The State Career Development Conferences provides a venue for DECA’s Competitive Events Program as well as additional career and leadership development programs. Top placing competitors will earn the right to represent Montana at the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, GA late April.

Montana DECA educational conferences are targeted, highly-focused learning experiences for students and advisors that support National Curriculum Standards and the development of 21st Century Skills. DECA conferences bring our members into the larger DECA community while providing unique opportunities to extend classroom learning. Each of Montana DECA’s educational conferences connects with corporate professionals to engage students in learning industry-related trends and content.

Whitney Lusk SCDC 2026
Whitney Lusk, born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah has always had a love for country music. Growing up listening to The Chicks, Martina
McBride, The Eagles, Miranda Lambert, and really anything 90’s, she found a deep love for singing and storytelling. Whitney has shared the stage with artists including Ella Langley,
Sawyer Brown, Russell Dickerson, Josh Turner, Maddie & Tae, Billy Currington, Aaron Watson, Granger Smith, Rachel Platten, and more. She’s performed at festivals like Country Explosion
(now called Country Fan Fest), The Big Sting Music Festival, Boots & Bikinis Festival and more.
Performing on stages since the age of 13 has helped Whitney strengthen her ability to capture an audience with her powerful vocals and energetic, fun stage presence. Whitney travels to and from Nashville to write and perform. She has written with Hall of Fame songwriters such as Leslie Satcher, Ronnie Bowman, Big Al
Anderson and Sharon Vaughan.
In Whitney’s 2024 released EP, Good As It Gets, fans are able to hear her genuine care for her craft and see her desire to add a more
positive outlook to country music. With her relatable songwriting, energetic and positive stage presence, and powerhouse vocals, she
and her band are bound to bring a good time to any crowd.

Michael Kent
A resident of Columbus, Ohio, Comedian and Magician Michael Kent gives the ancient art of magic a facelift with an irreverent and often satirical comedic spin. Michael spent his younger years learning magic to make friends and meet girls. After graduating from college, it became his job. Michael studied Communication, Linguistics and Theater at The Ohio State University and has studied at the world-famous Second City comedy theater in Chicago. He has performed for audiences all over the globe from Hollywood to US Troops serving overseas in 13 different countries. He’s been seen in hundreds of colleges all over the country in as many as 40 states in a single year, met lots of people — even wrote a book. After all this, he still feels like more of a Professional Smartass than a Magician.
