The DECA Difference

We are pleased to present the 2018-2019 Montana DECA Inc. Annual Report and Impact Statement.

Montana DECA continues to raise the bar in preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs, and this past academic year was no exception. The 2018-2019 school year marked a series of achievements for Montana DECA with record setting conference attendance, overall participation, and outstanding advisor professional learning. Because of this high-level of involvement in Montana DECA, our members continue to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom. This report walks you through this past year’s highlights, reach, impact and partners, as well as our key drivers for the future. Our business and community partners have invested an enormous amount of time and resources into our programming, curriculum, and community initiatives, providing our advisors and members opportunities to extend the classroom, apply teaching and learning, and prepare our members to enter the global economy. Montana DECA has an illustrious past, that has touched the lives of more than 10-million students, educators, school administrators, and business professionals. Their strong connection with our organization has developed into a brand that people identify, and one that has evolved throughout the years. With a very proud past that has evolved throughout the decades, Montana DECA is excited to announce that 2020 marks 70-years of service to our stakeholders. As business leaders, we recognize the significance of the past, while standing ready to embrace the future. Our pride points and this report describe our success and vision for the future. On behalf of our student members and teacher-advisors we impacted this year, thank you for your support and shared commitment to preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.

DECA Members Gain 21st Century Skills

Through participation in DECA activities, 92% of DECA members say that they learned how to communicate thoughts and ideas, how to organize a presentation and more about what businesses expect from employees, while gaining problem solving skills. 

DECA Members Are Prepared to Become Leaders

More than 90% of DECA members say their experience empowered them to be an effective leader and connected school to the real world. Nearly 80% of DECA members say DECA helped them recognize the benefit of community service.

DECA members say their experience prepared them academically for college and career (88%), influenced their college plans (68%), influenced their career plans (75%) and influenced their interest in entrepreneurship and owning a business (61%).
